Inspiration

Traveling to new places should be exciting, not dangerous. However, many tourists — especially women and solo travelers — face issues like scams, unsafe locations, overcrowding, and lack of emergency support. News about tourist fraud, harassment, and safety incidents inspired us to think:

“What if technology could predict danger and protect travelers before something goes wrong?”

We wanted to build a platform that not only helps tourists navigate cities but also ensures cybersecurity, personal safety, and real-time alerts. This idea led to the creation of YATRAWISE, a cybersecure smart tourism and women safety system.

What it does

YatraWise is a cybersecure smart tourism and women safety platform that helps travelers stay safe using AI-based risk detection, scam alerts, and emergency features. It provides a smart safety map, SOS system, privacy dashboard, and admin monitoring to predict danger and protect users in real time.

How we built it

We built YatraWise using React.js for the frontend and Firebase for backend, authentication, and database. Google Maps API was used to display safe and unsafe zones, while Chart.js helped create an interactive admin dashboard. We also implemented encrypted storage, role-based login, and demo datasets for safety alerts.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring reliable safety data and preventing fake reports Designing strong cybersecurity and privacy protection Creating real-time SOS and admin alert system Balancing innovative features with prototype limitations

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a complete cybersecure tourism safety system Integrated women safety features like SOS and fake call Created AI-based safety map with smart alerts Designed real-time admin dashboard with analytics Implemented privacy-focused and secure login system

What we learned

We learned how to integrate real-time databases, secure authentication, and map-based visualization. We also understood the importance of cybersecurity, ethical data collection, and how technology can solve real-world safety problems.

What's next for YATRAWISE

Integration with police and government safety data AI-based crime and risk prediction Offline SOS emergency system Verified user and transport system Expansion into a smart city safety platform for global tourism
