Inspiration Most travel sites for Nepal look like they haven't been updated since 2010. They are cluttered and confusing. We wanted to build YatraNepal to give the Himalayas the premium digital home they deserve—a platform that feels as elite as a 5-star lodge but remains grounded in local expertise.
What it does YatraNepal is a high-end travel hub. It bridges the gap between raw adventure and luxury. Users can discover curated trekking routes, book premium stays, and get "street-smart" essentials (Visa, Currency, SIM cards) all in one clean, fast, and modern interface.
How we built it We went with a professional, scalable stack:
React + TypeScript: For a bug-free, type-safe development experience.
Vite: Because nobody has time for slow builds during a hackathon.
Tailwind CSS v4: For a high-end, custom design system using a "Bluish" premium theme.
Lucide React: For clean, lightweight iconography.
React Router: To handle smooth, SPA-style navigation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of The Design: Achieving a magazine-style UI with custom glass-morphism and premium card layouts.
The Essentials Suite: Building a functional currency converter and an emergency contact bar that provides real value to travelers.
Clean Code: Moving from "copy-pasted" snippets to a structured, component-based architecture.
What we learned The biggest takeaway from this hackathon was the necessity of a "build-first" mindset over chasing perfect abstractions. We learned that a project’s success depends on a solid foundation; spending the initial hours configuring a professional Vite pipeline and a Tailwind v4 design system was the only reason we didn't collapse into "CSS hell" during the final sprint. We discovered the importance of being "street-smart" with our techknowing when to rip out a broken CDN or a buggy icon library and replace it with a professional build tool mid-stream. Above all, the experience taught us that premium design isn't just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a consistent, trustworthy architecture that can handle rapid pivots while still delivering a "Single Page Application" experience that feels like a polished, final product.
