What it does Yatra is an AI-native EdTech platform that delivers personalized learning experiences powered by fast inference LLMs. Core functionalities include:

Real-time AI tutor that answers questions, explains concepts, and generates custom examples Dynamic generation of lessons, quizzes, and practice exercises tailored to the student’s knowledge level Adaptive learning paths that evolve based on performance Modern, beautiful interface with smooth animations for enhanced user experience Teacher tools for rapid content creation and course management (in progress)

Currently, the platform provides a complete foundation: elegant landing page, authentication-ready structure, interactive dashboard, and a fast backend connected to Groq for powerful AI capabilities.

How we built it We built Yatra as a full-stack monorepo with a clear separation of concerns:

Frontend: Next.js 16 (App Router) + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS + Framer Motion. We used Server Components where possible for performance and Client Components for interactive elements. Backend: FastAPI (Python) with SQLAlchemy and Pydantic v2 for robust API development. AI Integration: Groq SDK for ultra-low latency inference using Llama-3 and Mixtral models. Styling & UX: Tailwind CSS for rapid styling and Framer Motion for delightful animations.

The project is structured for easy scaling — ready to integrate Supabase for authentication and PostgreSQL. We focused on clean architecture and modern best practices even under hackathon time constraints.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating Groq SDK smoothly with both frontend and backend while maintaining clean state management. Designing a flexible data model that can support adaptive learning paths and progress tracking from day one. Balancing beautiful, modern UI/UX with fast development speed during the hackathon. Managing monorepo structure (frontend + backend) efficiently while keeping both services running simultaneously in development. Time limitation — we had to prioritize core foundation and AI integration over completing all planned features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully built a production-ready full-stack skeleton with modern technologies (Next.js 16 + FastAPI) in a short time. Achieved seamless Groq integration with sub-second AI responses. Created a visually appealing and responsive design that feels professional and engaging. Maintained clean code architecture and good project structure despite time pressure. Built a solid technical foundation that can be easily extended into a real product after the hackathon.

What we learned

The incredible power and speed of Groq’s inference platform for real-time educational AI. How to effectively structure a full-stack monorepo for hackathons. The importance of good UI/UX — even in a hackathon, beautiful design significantly increases perceived quality. Modern Next.js 16 App Router patterns and best practices. That combining strong technical execution with a meaningful problem (education) creates something truly exciting.

What's next for Yatra

Full user authentication with Supabase Complete adaptive learning engine with progress tracking and knowledge graphing AI-powered lesson and quiz generation Teacher dashboard for content creation and student analytics Real-time collaboration features Mobile PWA support Multi-language support and advanced analytics

We believe Yatra has strong potential to become a meaningful EdTech product that genuinely improves learning outcomes.
