My inspiration started with tools like OpusClip, but I ended up pivoting three times before landing on this version of Yap.do.
Originally, the goal was ambitious:
I wanted to extract 3โ4 viral moments from a video, dub them into other languages using ElevenLabs, and generate hardcoded captions. But the full pipeline dubbing, captioning, timing, quickly became a beast. I ran into walls with Whisper alignment, multi-lang caption generation, and syncing everything cleanly. It was honestly too big for a weekend/night project.
I almost gave up until I started brainstorming with GPT to find a much smaller problem to tackle.
Thatโs when I had the idea:
What if there was a one-click tool that gave me just the highlights from a long YouTube video plus something tweetable to go with it?
I love long-form YouTube content, but itโs hard to share.
So I built Yap.do to generate 3 short, tweet-ready clips from any video. Itโs not for TikTok. Itโs not for Reels.
Itโs built for ๐ with tweet suggestions, shareable URLs and fast processing.
