Inspiration
We were inspired by Track 3, which was touch grass. We wanted to create a program that enforced healthier living habits and made it fun, in a unique way.
What it does
Bike Buddy pulls info from weather.api and google maps api to plan your next trip.
How we built it
Bike Buddy is built using flask for API calls, and react for displaying html, creating a well refined user experience.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a challenge implementing Gemini AI api, but this was because it was every bodies first hackathon, and it was too complex for the time allotted && our tools (skills).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to implement our core concept and get it working. This was simple to take a point A and B input and give some output C using an API that takes A and B as input.
What we learned
We learned about how caller functions in python can ping APIs, and how javascript can transmit info into python through html args. We all learned so much and are grateful for this opportunity.
What's next for Bike Buddy
Bike Buddy is quite literally (besides the core), a template. With more time and detail, Bike Buddy can implement a database (backend) to store user data and allow for app history. This means that info and cool aspects of previous rides can be shown to the users. Google gemini can be implemented, leading to some cool ideas we had, like a button that tells a user something cool about the route inputted.
