Inspiration

Curiosity sparked my Python journey in January. Eric’s bold, public builds convinced me I could do it too. My goal: swap manual startup bookkeeping for a streamlined, automated service.

What it does

Turn any CSV/XLSX bookkeeping report into clear, actionable insights. Standard financial reports are clunky and dull. Yakhol transforms raw data into smart dashboards, with consolidation on the horizon.

How we built it

Four frontend attempts with Bolt—two flops, one crashed, and one I love. I crafted what I wanted to see: clean, intuitive, strong. Python powers the backend, with Supabase hosting the database. Built as a user, for users. Simple. Solid. As an accountant I know what I wanted and used that as starting point.

Challenges we ran into

  • A solid frontend died on the 29th, forcing a full rebuild.
  • GitHub sync needs early setup; it won’t catch up later.
  • Importing existing repos for team projects was impossible.
  • Backend integration was tough.
  • Bolt’s mid-project design shift threw us off.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • I built real software—raw, unfinished, but alive!
  • It looks sharper than I imagined.
  • Mid-build pivot to a project I care about.

What we learned

  • Deployment is a slog.
  • I can conquer software—and tough challenges.
  • Building is a thrill.

What's next for Yakhol - your digital CFO

  • Harden the backend.
  • Rally beta testers to hammer it.
  • Kick off marketing.
  • Add forecasting, controlling, and enhanced reporting.
