Background on the application:Yahoo! offers many great services to the web development community via products & platforms such as the Yahoo! User Interface Library (YUI), the Yahoo! Query Language (YQL), etc. Another such service that perhaps isn't quite as well known is the YUI Theater. The Yahoo! YUI team films and distributes an outstanding collection of tech talks on various web technologies given by industry leading experts. The expanding collection has been available for some time now on iTunes or as standard single file downloads from the web. As developers we love to watch these videos, but since many of them are actually a bit longer than is normally comfortable to sit in from of a monitor or stare at a small screen we felt it was time someone made this amazing resource available for viewing from the comfort of the couch with the click of a remote.Background on the platform:Our small team is the process of building a new platform which aims to assist with the creation of InternetTV related video applications. We began with Boxee, but the end goal is to support many of the popular InternetTV development platforms. We only learned about the Samsung TV App SDK and this contest 10 days ago. As fans of web related development platforms and owners of Samsung TV's we couldn't resist the urge to add support for the Samsung platform in record time. Our YUI Theater application lays a solid foundation upon which we can continue to build.
