Inspiration

The project aims to improve care coordination within families, especially for elderly individuals and those with special needs who struggle to manage prescriptions and daily routines. The team developed an assistive reminder app with two user roles: caregivers and care recipients. Caregivers can input medications and tasks, monitor completion, and receive notifications if tasks are missed. Care recipients use a simplified interface that provides reminders 30 minutes before tasks and urgent alerts at the scheduled time.

How we built it

Due to inexperience in coding, our team focused on creating the most effective prompt and tried multiple platforms like Codex, Claude AI, and Base 44. In order to bring this project to life, we spent around 5-6 hours making the perfect idea and prompt which can be fed to these AI bots. Our team had to write more than 1000 lines of handwritten specifications. We had to manually enter a ton of features such as the color composition, font sizes, UI, etc.

Challenges we ran into

We wanted to add more features, such as a personalized calendar, a flashlight on off feature to notify the recipient, a cleaner ui where recipients do not see the option for activity and caregiver. However, our backend was too cluttered, and our app kept crashing, so we ended up using a simpler version as a website.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our vision for this app is commendable, and we genuinely believe it can be something that can help a certain group of society that we care for. We are proud of our capacity as new coders to think of so many features that cater to the elderly and special needs community and bring an app to life.

What we learned

We learned more about different platforms, different styles of coding, a lot of cloud services, API's, etc.

What's next for YADDY

We as a team genuinely want to give back to our community and will continue to work on YADDY. We hope to improve our UI to be more navigable for our target audience, with added features like inclusive vibration, notification sound, and flashlight to remind our loved ones to take their prescriptions and get their tasks done. Eventually, we hope to pitch this app to the market and benefit them.
