💡 Inspiration

In today’s digital age, we capture countless moments — but often forget to preserve the stories, emotions, and connections behind them. We were inspired by real-life experiences of families dealing with memory loss and aging. It made us ask:

Can technology help us not just store, but relive what truly matters?

This idea led us to build Yaadein — a smart, emotionally aware memory platform that combines the power of AI with the heart of storytelling.

🏗️ What It Does

Yaadein is a tech-powered memory preservation platform designed to help users:

🧠 Auto-tag memories using AI — generate emotional captions and smart labels for images and text
📅 Organize moments into a visual, scrollable timeline
🎮 Interact with memories through simple, AI-enhanced memory games
🔖 Search by emotion, event, or theme, not just date
🔐 Store memories securely using Supabase for authenticated access and real-time sync
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Collaborate with loved ones to create shared vaults (in progress)

⚙️ How We Built It

Frontend: React + TailwindCSS for a clean, responsive, and intuitive interface
Backend: Node.js with Express.js APIs
Database & Storage: Supabase for user auth, media storage, and real-time data handling
AI/ML:
- Hugging Face Transformers for generating captions and emotional labels
- Sentence Transformers for semantic search and matching
Hosting & DevOps:
- Bolt.new for rapid deployment builds and cloud sync
- GitHub for source control and collaboration

📚 What We Learned

This hackathon gave us deep insight into both technical and creative problem-solving. We learned:

How to design and implement emotion-driven AI experiences
How to integrate NLP and image models meaningfully into a user-facing product
Efficient use of Supabase for full-stack development with minimal setup time
Managing deployment builds and automating updates across environments
How to work around common debugging issues, version conflicts, and performance bottlenecks
The importance of scoping features realistically while building something impactful under a tight deadline

🚧 Challenges We Faced

🧠 Fine-tuning AI prompts and models to produce relevant, context-aware results
🕹️ Designing memory-based interactions that felt natural and emotionally engaging
🧩 Balancing complexity with simplicity in UI to keep it usable across age groups
💾 Handling file uploads, previews, and secure storage under time and space constraints

✅ Built a fully functional AI-powered memory platform within the limited timeframe of a hackathon
🎯 Successfully integrated Hugging Face and Sentence Transformers to analyze and tag media with emotional intelligence
🧠 Designed and implemented emotionally-driven UX flows that balance tech and human connection
🛠️ Deployed working builds using Bolt.new, integrating frontend, backend, and database seamlessly
⚡ Created a visually clean and intuitive UI using React and TailwindCSS
🔄 Enabled real-time updates and secure media handling via Supabase
🧩 Solved numerous technical bugs and deployment issues under time pressure
🤝 Worked as a collaborative team, managing tasks, feature prioritization, and decision-making effectively
