Inspiration
Social media is a powerful tool for connection and expression, but it can also become a platform for negativity, which may impact mental health. We wanted to create a solution that encourages users to engage in more positive interactions and fosters a healthier online environment. Drawing inspiration from psychological counseling methods, we envisioned a generative AI-powered tool to help users balance their online behavior.
What it does
Our tool evaluates the sentiment of social media posts using generative AI. It categorizes posts as positive or negative based on language, tone, and context. If a user consistently posts negative content, the plugin intervenes by recommending uplifting, positive posts. These suggestions are designed to inspire, motivate, and promote a more constructive digital presence, aligning with principles of psychological well-being.
How we built it
We utilized a combination of sentiment analysis models and generative AI frameworks. The system was trained on a diverse dataset of social media posts to recognize subtle emotional cues in language. We integrated the AI with social media platforms through APIs, ensuring seamless monitoring and interaction. The generative component curates and personalizes positive content recommendations, tailoring them to individual users’ preferences and interests.
Challenges we ran into
Distinguishing sarcasm, humor, and context-specific nuances was a significant challenge. Generating positive suggestions that felt relevant and engaging to users was a complex task. Ensuring smooth operation across various social media platforms with different API limitations presented technical hurdles.
