Inspiration
There is a worldwide awareness about saving the environment and earth but the efforts and activities towards this are in pockets. What can make it a universal movement with concerted efforts from all the stakeholders, that are in fact every individual on this earth?
What it does
This solution is a starting point for inculcating such a behavior, by rewarding such daily behavior of people, with currency, but a green currency. Initially this will be a platform used by multiple corporates to fulfill their CSR objectives to fund the green currency to reward first their employees and then other people for such eco-friendly behavior, that can be used with supporting merchant partners for buying products or services. The idea is all the stakeholders in this movement will be motivated to be recognized for being part of this movement.
Then the ecosystem can expand to support this to make this as a currency in its own right, as much as crypto currency in circulation today with one difference. The green currency's expansion means our world environment is getting better and better.
The participants, initially employees, who seek to earn green currency log their verifiable green activities (such as taking a metro, bus or bicycle to and from their office, participating in recycling activities such as waste segregation etc.) into this platform earning different values of green currency. They can also spend this currency on the platform for buying things with supporting merchant partners.
The corporates who have funded this can look at the measurable savings on carbon footprints on their investments by virtue of such green actions by the individuals on the corporate dashboard on this platform.
How we built it
Chose React for Front-end for both corporates and individuals/employees and Firebase as the back-end.
Challenges we ran into
The challenge was more of a conceptual one on what could be the starting point for implementing green currency movement so that it acquires the required momentum in time and came up with the above solution that should hopefully kick off this movement rightly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I was able to come up with an initial proof of concept that can demonstrate end to end the initial implementation of this concept of green currency well.
What we learned
There is a lot of creative ways in which this concept can take shape and we need to take this in a phased manner to spread this initiative.

Removing the demo data to make it a functional POC Having a mobile interface for user to log their verifiable green activities. Adding more verifiable green activities for user to log. Taking to the potential advocate corporates to start and promote this initiative
