Inspiration

We saw a gap for "Vibe Coders"—those building with AI tools like Bolt.new, Cursor, Copilot, and Gemini. They face unique challenges: AI-generated bugs, prompt crafting, and consistent "vibes." We built Vibecode Overflow as the essential hub to connect, share struggles, and find solutions for this new wave of builders.

What it does

Vibecode Overflow is a dynamic online community for Vibe Coders. Users post problems with AI code or prompts, getting real-world solutions. They also showcase successful "Vibe Code" snippets and exact prompts. The platform fosters discussions, upvoting, and commenting, building a rich knowledge base of debugging strategies and best practices.

How we built it

We used Bolt.new for rapid frontend development and Supabase for a robust backend. Bolt.new enabled quick UI iteration. Supabase provided a PostgreSQL database, streamlined authentication, real-time updates, secure RLS, and Edge Functions for server-side logic, allowing fast, secure, and performant development.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge was Supabase's free-tier email rate limits for authentication, breaking signup. This forced a pivot to simpler authentication. Also, using a Netlify subdomain (.netlify.app) blocked email domain verification, highlighting the critical need for a custom domain.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of agility in finding novel solutions under pressure, especially given our hackathon deadline. When faced with crippling email rate limits, we quickly identified and implemented a username/password-only authentication system, completely bypassing that hurdle. This rapid, effective problem-solving ensured we delivered a fully functional core product on time for the hackathon, showcasing our ability to innovate and adapt effectively.

What we learned

We learned critical lessons about early infrastructure planning (emails, custom domains) and platform limitations (Supabase free-tier). The power of Supabase Edge Functions for secure backend operations was key. This reinforced agile adaptation, quick iteration, and prioritizing user experience.

What's next for Vibecode Overflow

Next, we're focusing on expanding content and community engagement. This includes advanced search/tagging, "Vibe Badges," and AI-powered moderation. We plan tighter integration with popular AI dev tools for direct sharing. Our goal is to make Vibecode Overflow the indispensable platform for every Vibe Coder.
