Inspiration

One of our members was severely underweight during their prepubescent years, this was due to inadequate nutritional intake. to better track what nutrition people consume, we decided to make NutriSpoon

What it does

NutriSpoon is a spoon that measures the weight of food that is being consumed throughout our consumer's meals. This weight data is then converted into information such percentage of Carbohydrates, Meat, Vegetables, and Fruits eaten. Which can be used to advise our consumers on better eating habits,

How we built it

We built NutriSpoon by attaching a load cell that measures the weight of food scooped up by the NutriSpoon. This data is then converted from the weight of food to calories accordingly based on what food type is being eaten, and is uploaded onto our application

Challenges we ran into

One challenge that we faced during lack of components required to prototype our NutriSpoon. We tackled this challenge by traveling to Sim Lim tower to purchase the components required. Another challenge that we faced was our lack of expertise in application creation. This made us unable to create a working application in the limited time given which can be used alongside with our NutriSpoon. We tackled this problem by creating 'snap shots' of how we intend our application to look.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This was the first time our group used an Arduino to make a prototype. We're proud of the fact that we were able to implement the use of Arduino in our NutriSpoon, especially in the limited time that we were given.

What we learned

We learned to apply the double diamond design process that was taught to us during our time at SUTD. This greatly helped us during our ideation process. We also learned how to operate Arduino.

What's next for xX_YAN_TINGS_Xx

xX_YAN_TINGS_Xx's members will continue to hone our skills, in order to better navigate through future hackathons.
