Inspiration
We got inspired by digital reading apps such as Apple Books and Kindle. The idea is to make the user feel fully immersed in whichever book they are reading.
What it does
Imagine a bookshelf on your wall filled with your favorite reads. Pick a book, swipe pages with gestures, or use Text-to-Speech for an immersive experience. If in VR mode, watch your surroundings change.
How we built it
We used LLMs and AI platforms like Llama3 and Stabled Diffusion for skybox generation, and Unity and Meta SDK for the XR environment.
Challenges we ran into
Meta SDK is drastically improving, although some of the core interactions seems buggy at times and simply stop working out of nowhere. Implementing AI into the Unity workflow was challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Implementing AI generated skyboxes into Unity. Reading books in XR headsets.
What we learned
We learned that there’s a long road ahead in the XR journey, but we’re excited for the ride and the potential of this technology.
What's next for VerseTales
VerseTales is in early Alpha stage of development, there are so many features that could be implemented such as personalized book settings (e.g. character style and size), laying down mode, and more.
