Inspiration

Currently, there are several donation platforms to collaborate with causes of non-governmental organizations or to help people with limited resources to receive small amounts to improve their quality of life. The problem is that this entire process still depends on centralized financial institutions, with the problems that this already entails, such as low banking of people who need to receive donations, or restrictions in some countries, in addition to high transaction costs. Therefore, my idea was to build a similar donation platform, but where each charitable cause is associated with an XRPL address so that organizations can receive donations directly, without depending on a banking institution.

What it does

On this platform, you can create a charitable cause by completing certain details and receiving donations. This platform gives you a public link to share with anyone. Everything is built using XRPL testnet, so you can create an address and receive test funds to donate.

How we built it

Using a cloud platform (Azure), we built the backend to store the data of the charitable causes, but all the information of the transactions and amounts using the XRPL testnet, with its SDK in Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was to find a model where charities can be helped through a decentralized economy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The achievement, beyond this demo, is to start building a real product based on this project.

What we learned

I learned how to use the XRPL javascript SDK to create transactions and accounts with amounts on the testnet, which helped me learn more about the network and its benefits of low-cost transactions.

What's next for XRPFunding

My intention is to put together a complete crowdfunding platform with XRPL and help organizations around the world to collect for their causes, starting with Latin America. I want XRPFunding to become a real product for my company, Techgethr, a Web3 Startup Studio
