Inspiration
The Haitian Revolution was the first successful slave revolt in history, yet its story is often left untold. My mother was Haitian and shared stories of the revolution when I was young. That personal connection inspired me to learn more, and what began as curiosity grew into a passion project. I wanted to honor those voices and retell the story with the cinematic weight it deserves.
What I Learned
I learned that AI can be more than a tool. It can be a bridge between history and imagination. By blending music, narration, and AI-driven visuals, I found a way to create something that feels immersive, emotional, and true to the spirit of the revolution.
How I Built It
I combined AI imagery, original music, narration, and editing into one rhythm. Krea, KlingAI and Hailuo helped bring scenes to life, while CapCut and sound design carried the storytelling. Every frame was shaped to feel like a cinematic reimagining of history.
Challenges
When I began this project, AI was not advanced enough to create consistent characters. I had to find workarounds and spend countless hours refining outputs to make the visuals hold together. The hardest part was balancing the technical struggle with the responsibility of honoring the revolution’s legacy. My goal was not only to innovate with new tools, but also to make sure the story’s soul remained intact.
