🌟 Inspiration

I wanted to create a platform where readers could genuinely connect with me as an author, rather than just chasing numbers or trends. Unlike traditional social media, which often prioritizes followers and algorithms, Xcerpt is built for meaningful engagement between writers and their audience.

📚 What It Does

Xcerpt is a modern platform where writers can publish excerpts, share updates, and build a loyal readership. Whether you're a new poet or a seasoned novelist, Xcerpt offers an all-in-one space to post your work, interact with fans, and grow your creative brand with authenticity.

🛠️ How We Built It

Xcerpt was developed using Bolt.new, with integrations for Supabase (backend and auth), RevenueCat (subscription management), ElevenLabs (Read to me), and Stripe (payment processing). These tools helped accelerate development and streamline core functionality.

🚧 Challenges We Faced

OAuth was a hurdle, so I implemented Google sign-in since it's widely used and didn't require an Apple Developer account, which would have cost $100. Integrating RevenueCat was also new to me, especially connecting it properly with my app, but I managed to get it working using their web links and documentation.

🏆 What We're Proud Of

One standout feature is the Reader View — a clean, Kindle-like interface that allows users to upload and read text, track their reading progress, and manage their personal library. It’s intuitive, distraction-free, and central to the reading experience on Xcerpt.

🧠 What We Learned

Bolt.new is jaw-droppingly powerful. As someone who has spent years coding and following AI development, I was blown away by how much it accelerated the process. It's impressive… and a little intimidating.

🚀 What’s Next for Xcerpt

The next step is enhancing monetization for creators. On the Pro plan, authors will be able to receive tips, lock specific content behind subscriptions, and monetize their work directly. The goal is to make Xcerpt not only a platform for sharing but a place where writers can thrive.
