I am interested in the healthcare field and wanted to build a project connected to my future career. I noticed that keeping patient and X-ray information organized is important, so I decided to create a simple digital tool for tracking X-ray patient records.

What it does

X-Ray Patient Tracker is a simple web application for organizing X-ray patient information. It allows users to:

  • Add patient records
  • Record the X-ray type and appointment date
  • Track scan status such as Scheduled, Scanned, and Report Ready
  • Search for patients using their name or patient ID
  • Filter records by status
  • View patient statistics through a dashboard

How we built it

The project was built as a lightweight web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. JavaScript handles the patient records, search, filtering, and status management. Browser local storage is used to save the demo records so that information remains available when the page is reopened.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was understanding how the different parts of a web application work together. We also had to make sure that adding, searching, filtering, and removing patient records worked correctly. Another challenge was creating an interface that was simple and easy to understand for beginners.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a working healthcare-focused prototype with a clean dashboard and useful patient-tracking features. The project demonstrates how a simple digital solution can help organize information and make basic record management easier.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned the basics of building a web application with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We also learned about forms, data handling, search and filtering, browser storage, and designing a user-friendly interface.

What's next for X-Ray Patient Tracker

In the future, the project could be expanded with secure user accounts, role-based access for healthcare staff, appointment reminders, report management, notifications, and integration with hospital information systems. A future version could also include stronger privacy and security features for real healthcare environments.
