Social Spark

Our inspiration comes from our volunteer experiences and observations where we realised that many older adults gradually lose meaningful roles as they age, despite having decades of experience and stories worth sharing. This motivated us to join the hackathon to create something that could help restore that sense of purpose and reconnect older adults with the wider community.

To bring our idea to life, we built our prototype using Figma, which allowed us to design the user flow and visual concept of our application. Throughout the process, we learned a lot especially about understanding older adults’ motivations, and also about the business side of developing a solution, such as revenue models, market sizing, and feasibility.

The journey wasn’t easy. We faced tight time constraints, limited knowledge in certain areas, and the challenge of completing both the slide deck and prototype within a short timeframe. However, we overcame these obstacles through clear team communication, quick learning, and making decisions based on insights gathered during the hackathon.
