Inspiration

Nonprofits don’t just struggle with what to say—they struggle with when to ask.

We noticed that many organizations run campaigns whenever they have time, rather than when donors are most likely to give. This leads to missed opportunities, weaker engagement, and inconsistent fundraising results.

We were especially inspired by how giving behavior can be time-driven—for example, in Muslim communities, donations often increase around Fridays and key moments. That made us realize that timing is an overlooked but critical part of fundraising.

What it does

WaqtAI helps nonprofits identify high-opportunity fundraising days and instantly generates a clear, execution-ready campaign plan.

Users can:

View a calendar of high, medium, and low opportunity days Click any day generate a structured fundraising plan with timeline, messaging, and outreach strategy

Instead of guessing when to run campaigns, nonprofits can ask at the right time with the right plan.

How we built it

We built WaqtAI as a web-based interactive prototype focused on simplicity and clarity.

Designed a calendar system that classifies days into high, medium, and low opportunity Built dynamic logic to generate different campaign plans based on the selected day Created a clean UI with a modal-based plan generator Implemented fallback logic to ensure the demo works smoothly even without live API responses Structured the app to feel like a real product, not just a static demo Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was making the product feel intelligent and dynamic within a short hackathon timeframe.

Initially, all days generated similar outputs, which made the app feel static. We had to redesign the logic so that:

High-opportunity days feel urgent and action-driven Medium days feel balanced Low days focus on awareness

We also had to carefully refine our messaging to be credible and not over-claim results, while still making the product compelling.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Building a fully interactive product with no dead clicks Creating a clear and intuitive user flow that judges can understand quickly Designing a system that adapts strategy based on timing instead of giving a generic output Delivering a polished UI that feels like a real startup product What we learned

We learned that:

simplicity and clarity matter more than complexity in short demos Users respond better to structured outputs than generic suggestions Timing is a powerful but underused factor in fundraising strategy Strong UX and storytelling are just as important as technical implementation What's next for WaqtAI

Next, we want to:

improve the opportunity model using real data integrate live APIs for dynamic plan generation Expand beyond our initial niche to support a wider range of nonprofits Add personalization based on organization type and campaign goals

Our long-term vision is to build a platform that helps nonprofits consistently run smarter, more effective campaigns.
