[Digital Storytelling project]
Inspiration
My inspiration for GlobaLearn comes from my passion for promoting education and making it more accessible for everyone. I strongly believe that education is the key to unlocking a better future for individuals and communities, and I am committed to making it available to those who may not have easy access to it. Combining this mission with sustainability and ecology is a wonderful idea, as it allows me to promote education while also contributing to a better future for our planet. Additionally, I have always loved making designs and educative materials. Moreover, the Digital Storytelling course that I recently completed played a crucial role in shaping my vision for GlobaLearn. When I was growing up, I was drawn to books with nice illustrations, and I hope to create similar experiences for children who engage with my products.
What it does
GlobaLearn is a project that produces eco-friendly printed materials, including calendars, card games, and books, with a focus on sustainability. By supporting this project, individuals can obtain high-quality, environmentally-friendly products while also contributing to the goal of providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children. The project's primary objective is to ensure that all children have access to technology and the internet, as it is a powerful tool for education. While books are essential, the internet can be used by multiple children simultaneously and can provide access to online lectures, thus bridging the gap caused by a lack of teachers.
How I built it
I created the eco-friendly printed materials for GlobaLearn using a combination of AI-generated images and prompts from ChatGPT. I utilized Canva to design the layouts and bring my vision to life. The end result is a high-quality, sustainable product that aligns with my mission to promote environmental awareness and support education for underprivileged children.
Challenges I ran into
It's common to encounter challenges while working on any project, and GlobaLearn was no exception. One of the biggest challenges I faced was a lack of time, as I had to juggle this project alongside other commitments. Additionally, I had to overcome my limited skills in areas such as game design and finding the technology to create high-quality, engaging products. Another challenge was getting the right picture from the AI, as it was not always easy to find the perfect image to convey the message I wanted. Similarly, working with ChatGPT also had its challenges, as it required careful phrasing and sometimes multiple attempts to get the desired response. However, these challenges helped me to learn and grow as a creator, and I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish despite the obstacles.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
As I reflect on the journey of creating GlobaLearn, I am proud of the accomplishments that I have achieved so far. Despite the challenges of limited time and expertise in certain areas such as game design and technology, I was able to create a playable and engaging game with beautiful illustrations that highlight the importance of sustainability. Additionally, I have taken a big step forward in turning my passion for education and sustainability into a tangible business that can make a real impact in the world. Overall, I am excited about the potential for GlobaLearn to promote education and sustainability in a fun and engaging way.
What I learned
Through the process of building GlobaLearn, I learned that starting a project from scratch can be challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. It takes time, patience, and perseverance to bring an idea to life. I also learned the importance of having a clear goal and purpose for the project. Additionally, I gained new skills such as game design, working with Generative AIs, and digital storytelling. Most importantly, I learned that combining my passion for sustainability and education can have a positive impact on the world.
What's next for GlobaLearn
Short term goals
My next steps include launching an e-shop to reach a wider audience and expanding my product line to include items like notebooks and postcards. I'm excited to continue to create high-quality, eco-friendly materials that support sustainability and raise awareness for the 17 UN goals. Additionally, I aim to earn my first profits and make a real impact on the education of underprivileged children. I'm also looking forward to developing a large board game that focuses on the 17 UN goals to encourage learning and engagement. Stay tuned for more updates!
