Inspiration
The inspiration behind this project was the fantasy theme that was given to us by the knights hack club for this hackathon. We wanted to create something fantasy related within the unity machine. This is how we came to create the the fantasy village of Wyrmspire.
What it does
This is a simulation game where you play as God in control of the weather. Depending on the weather helps with how well the crop harvest will go. You can work in the villages favor by allowing them to have plentiful harvests allowing the village to grow in population.
How we built it
We built this simulation game within the Unity game engine.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges that we ran into was when it came to having scripts change the game objects depending on the states that they were in. Another challenge we faced was trying to use an AI pathing package that would have the game objects of the villagers move throughout the village within a limited area.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The big accomplishment was that we were able to get a simulation game working within the short period of time with zero prior experience with the Unity game engine.
What we learned
We learned a lot of scripting and how to leverage the OOS that comes with C#. There was many moving parts and learning how they worked together was a big part of the learning that we had to do for this project to come together
What's next for Wyrmspire Village
The next steps for Wyrmspire Village is to create and implement a death feature for the villagers, where if the villagers go a whole turn without eatting and have zero hunger then they die. Another part that we would like to implement is a counter that keeps track of the number of villagers that are apart of the village and a visual of how much crop they have stored up
