Bearing in mind the theme for the hackathon, i.e. "Who wants to be a Hackionaire?" (a spin-off on the popular game show " Who wants to be a Millionaire?"), we thought it would only be apt to create an application that celebrates the spirit of incentivised learning.
What it does
This is a GK quiz app which has various categories the user can select like Programming, Geography, Philosophy, Mathematics etc. Each category has a set of 5 questions related to the topic. The user sees the question with 4 options. The user has to choose the correct option. If the selected option is correct, the option is highlighted with Green and if it's wrong, the selected option turns red.
How we built it
We used Android Studio to create the app. We were familiar with Java so the logic part was fairly easy to implement.
Challenges we ran into
We had never used Android Studio before. We learnt what was required in the span of two days and started with the project on Saturday. We faced many issues with from creation of the UI to how to switch between activities. But luckily there is stack overflow at the rescue always:)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that even with no prior knowledge of Android studio we were able to build an app that runs. The app is still incomplete, but we made the backbone of the app.
What we learned
We learnt how to create an android app in android studio, how to create the UI for the app, how to collaborate on git together and a lot of things we were not familiar prior to the hackathon!
What's next for WWTH - Who wants to be a Hackionaire? Quiz App
Firebase Integration, Bookmark feature implementation, Loading in a question database, implementing share option, publishing on the Play-Store and in-app Ads :P
