Inspiration
The inspiration behind WWC - Winter Wildlife Conservation stemmed from the alarming rates of animal fatalities during harsh winter conditions, prompting us to create a real-time solution to address these emergencies effectively.
What it does
WWC provides real-time updates on wildlife emergencies during winter, enabling wildlife conservationists to respond promptly. It offers live status on various animal conditions, alerts conservationists to emergencies, and provides interactive data on wildlife risk statuses across different regions.
How we built it
Using HTML and CSS, we designed a user-friendly website interface with login options for wildlife conservationists and general users. We integrated real-time data tracking for temperature and wildlife risk status. Additionally, we implemented an alert system for emergencies, allowing conservationists to respond immediately.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we faced was the tight timeline to complete the project, which hindered our ability to fully develop the data analysis component. Integrating real-time data tracking while ensuring website responsiveness and user accessibility proved to be demanding. Balancing the complexity of the alert system with user-friendly design also posed difficulties. Additionally, ensuring data accuracy and reliability presented ongoing challenges. We acknowledge that further work is needed to complete the data analysis aspect of the project to fully realize its potential impact on wildlife conservation efforts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have developed a platform that addresses critical wildlife emergencies in real time, potentially saving countless animal lives. Creating an intuitive and easy-to-navigate user interface, and implementing features like live data tracking and emergency alerts demonstrate our commitment to effective wildlife conservation.
What we learned
Through this project, we gained insights into the complexities of website design and wildlife conservation challenges. We learned to prioritize user experience while ensuring functionality and data accuracy. Additionally, we developed a deeper understanding of the importance of prompt response in wildlife emergencies.
What's next for WWC - Winter Wildlife Conservation
Moving forward, we aim to expand our website by incorporating an interactive map feature, extending our reach beyond Canada to address global wildlife emergencies. We plan to enhance data analytics capabilities, improve user engagement, and forge partnerships to amplify our impact on wildlife conservation efforts.
