Inspiration

It doesn't matter how pretty your house is: if you have terrible roommates. Over the years students at Western have had to rely on many different pages and services in order to find a good roommate or a place to live, and the results are not always what one might expect. Living with the wrong person can bring negative consequences to an individuals life.

What it does

WUMate allows you to either find a roommate or a place to live where there are already people living. But WUMate is not like any other app. WUMate allows you to filter between many categories like: distance to Campus, Price, # of people living in the house and #of rooms available. It also allows you to filter through degrees, and interests like sports, arts, music, etc. You can also filter while you explore the map and you can look for specific locations and see what is available around the area. The app also allows users to choose between a normal search and an advanced search. An advanced search allows people to be a little more critical when choosing roommates. When advanced search is activated, data regarding cleaning and general living habits are collected in order to achieve to perfect match.

How I built it

We built this project using Xcode and Swift.

Challenges I ran into

Our team was small(2 people), so accomplishing all the task in such a small time was a challenge.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We worked as a team and got learn and improve our skills.

What I learned

I learned a lot more about iOS development, what it entails, how to work as a team, and the whole development and creation process.

What's next for WUMate

WUMate has a lot of potential and could eventually be integrated with the Universities off campus services in order to improve the Western Student's off-campus experience. Eventually, we could sell/offer our app to other universities, and we could develop other features that could make it even more useful.
