Inspiration

2048, Boggle, Wordle

What it does

Writus is a wacky word scrambler in a minimalist package. Slide tiles across an ever filling 3 by 3 grid, tracing the letters into real words and gobbling up point multipliers. Three wrong words and you’re out, but if you know your English Scrabble™ dictionary, you’ll set new high scores and gain the respect and admiration of your peers!

How we built it

The game is built in Game Maker Studio 2, which exports to HTML5. The website is built with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was coming up with a great idea. We spent hours brainstorming until we came up with a concept that was novel, minimal, and properly scoped.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the idea we eventually came up with. The game is fun and allows for tons of skill, but it's also very simple. It's the kind of game that anyone could enjoy, which we're really proud of.

What we learned

It's hard to just come up with a good idea, especially when there are so few limitations. We spent hours brainstorming on countless different things of all varieties that we could make.
