Inspiration
We were inspired by a common problem in academic research: writing often starts too late, after important decisions have already been made. We wanted to make writing useful from the beginning of a project.
What it does
Writic turns a research idea into an early paper prototype with relevant literature, traceable citations, and a structure aligned with a target journal. Researchers can refine the prototype as their ideas, evidence, and feedback evolve.
How we built it
We built Writic using Codex, GPT, Gemini, Supabase, Google Cloud, and Cloudflare. These tools support our development workflow, artificial intelligence features, database, infrastructure, and application delivery.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenges included improving citation reliability, handling different research disciplines, maintaining consistent output quality, and designing a workflow that supports real research rather than simply generating text.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We launched Writic in private beta and attracted researchers from several disciplines. Work supported by Writic has already been accepted by conferences, research forums, and peer reviewed journals.
What we learned
We learned that researchers value early clarity more than the number of words produced. They need help identifying research gaps, evaluating feasibility, aligning with advisors, and choosing the right publication direction.
What's next for Writic
We are building the Risk Radar, Validation Roadmap, and shared workspaces for labs and advisors. We also plan to improve citation quality, expand support for more research fields, and continue testing our pricing model.
