Project Inspiration

As a prospective graduate student applying for Master's scholarships in renowned universities worldwide, I faced the challenge of crafting standout motivation letters—a crucial component, often accounting for up to 15% of the admission process. My journey began with a realization: just as Viktoria's Resume Optimizer elevated my job applications, a similar tool for motivation letters could significantly enhance my chances in the competitive world of graduate admissions.

Further inspiration came during a virtual session hosted by Cyril Bandolo, an AWS Machine Learning Hero and fellow member of the AWS User Group of Douala, where he passionately presented the PartyRock Generative AI Hackathon. Cyril's insights and encouragement were instrumental in convincing me to participate, highlighting the potential impact of generative AI in addressing real-world challenges, and inspiring for my project.

Learning and Application

Participating in the PartyRock Generative AI Hackathon deepened my understanding of prompt engineering. Drawing inspiration from LLMs, particularly Claude, I crafted WriteWise AI to generate tailored motivation letters. I delved into the nuances of LLM parameters like top-p and temperature, learning how they influence the output and contribute to the personalized touch that WriteWise AI provides.

Building WriteWise AI

Building this project involved navigating through various models, including Llama, Claude, Titan Text Lite, and Command. However, Claude from Anthropic emerged as the ideal choice for its ability to generate detailed, high-quality responses. Its nuanced understanding and creative fluency set it apart, aligning seamlessly with the goal of creating compelling motivation letters.

Challenges Faced

The journey wasn't without hurdles. Selecting the perfect model posed a challenge, with numerous options available. However, after careful evaluation, Claude proved to be the most adept at crafting personalized, impactful motivation letters.
