Inspiration

I'm an introvert who appreciates good writing. I've always wanted to improve my writing, but writing is not part of my average day to day. When I do have to write, it's always a struggle.
One day, I hit a major writer's block while drafting a design award submission at work. I edited the written portion for weeks and had several writing sessions with peers from design, content design and product management who provided great feedback. The frustration during this process was that I knew the writing could be better, but didn't know how to elevate it. It felt like I spent a lot of time spinning my wheels and could've benefitted with extra guidance.
I made Writer's Circle is for likeminded people crave good writing but struggle to get there.

Good writing isn't just satisfying, there's also a huge business case for it: a study by Grammarly found that companies with 500 employees lose $6.25 million each year to resolving communication issues—and these costs only increase with additional head count.

What it does

Writer's circle lets you curate a personal writer's circle with agents modeled after your favorite writers and thinkers. Get feedback from a simulated Hemingway, engage a virtual audience of your peers regarding the script for your next big presentation, or brace yourself for what your professor might say about that essay you’ve been wrestling with.

    • use out of the box agents
    • or train your own using descriptions and writing samples.
  2. Write
    • just start writing; focus on putting content down
  3. Ask for help from specific agents
    • get feedback from specific agents on selected parts of your writing, or the whole thing
    • get ideas on rephrasing
    • ask follow up questions

  • Supabase to hide api keys

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was changing parts of my design due to technical limitation as a non engineer creating this.
I had trouble getting the bolt.new URL. My project was private. Because of the Github integration. Bolt did not let me change its visibility. I had to duplicate my project to get a public Bolt URL.

Building a finished working product that I can't wait to use myself.

What's next for Writer's Circle

UX improvements - some of the chat interactions can be smoother, I would like to minimize some repetitive actions like re selecting text, copying and pasting content to ask follow up questions.

Monetization - charge for specially trained agents and subscription plans for extra features like limiting number of agents, etc. Add a BYOK option.

Variations of Writer's Circle- This concept can expand to take different themes for different use cases, to name a few: - virtual career coaches to help prep for interviews and progress in your career - virtual friend groups to chat when you're lonely - a journaling app with curated listening agents to help you process your emotions
