Inspiration
Due to age, most Senior Citizens suffer a common phenomenon in which one has trouble finding the words to express their ideas, thoughts, or feelings on sms, emails, letters, etc. They sit down to write something, and it just doesn’t come out. Or maybe they start writing and realize too many ideas are cluttering their heads.
What it does
With Write Support, the user simply types or say what they need help to generate, and within seconds the Alexa Skill will give relevant content. It leverages the latest advancements in natural language processing. For example, a senior citizen might want to write a message to his grandchild, he would speak to Alexa, "generate a birthday message for my grandchild turning 9". Alexa would then reply with the relevant message for the senior citizen to share.
How we built it
We built it using the Alexa Skills SDK and integrated with GPT-3. GPT-3 is the latest AI algorithm for natural language. It is trained on 10% of the Internet and tries to generate text given a specific context.
Challenges we ran into
Writing code using Alexa online code editor. We managed to resolve this by exporting the code to VS Code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A working MVP submitted to the store for review and acquired domain knowledge on using technology to assist senior citizens.
