I used ChatGPT to help me write an email that communicates a clear message with an appropriate tone. The target audience is mainly college and working populations who tend to encounter situations where they need to write emails. Emails are important and essential means of communication used by many professionals. Hence, being able to write an effective email is a critical skill. To alleviate the stress of writing an email, ChatGPT can be utilized to get the ball rolling by drafting an email framework that can be adjusted as needed. In short, the problem this project solves is supporting people who are struggling to draft an email by providing a rough template that can be customized and modified as needed.
Tutorial for Use and Best Practices:
- Open ChatGPT.
- Write to whom you are sending the email to for what purpose (i.e. message). Communicate what tone you would like to convey through this email (e.g. aggressive, polite, straightforward).
- Proofread the email template and ask ChatGPT to modify some parts if needed.
- Proofread again and if satisfied, open your email account and send the email. (Note: Feel free to make adjustments on the ChatGPT-produced email draft as needed.)
- Your part is now done! Patiently wait for an email response.
Impacts on Learning:
As aforementioned, writing an email is a needed skill in today's society. However, no one really teaches you how to write an email. Hence, ChatGPT is here to help and assist your journey in mastering how to craft an effective email with the appropriate tone and style that clearly communicates your message.
Limitations and Ethical Considerations:
Since ChatGPT does not know everything about you and your situation, it may be difficult to generate a highly personalized email which is why you may need to make some changes in the email draft that ChatGPT produced. Hence, proofreading is very important.
Inspiration
One day, I was struggling to reach out to a professor to ask for a reconsideration of my grade. I was not sure if my message was clear and did not want to be seen as rude. So, I asked ChatGPT to write me an email and I want to now share such functionality with everyone else.
What it does
ChatGPT writes an email template for you to customize and send it over to your recipient.
How we built it
Simply write what your message is, who your recipient is, and what tone you would like.
Challenges we ran into
Sometimes, the email is unnecessarily too lengthy and some words are awkward but those can be fixed through proofreading and customization.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is a convenient and easy-to-use tool that is much needed by a lot of college and working populations.
What we learned
I learned that writing an email can be much less time-consuming and stress-free with some AI assistance.

Responding to an email is as important as writing one. So, the next step can be "Respond to an email" where ChatGPT helps an individual respond to an email with an appropriate tone and style while delivering the desired message.
