Inspiration

```The Waltham Partnership for Youth’s mission is to cultivate today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders. We accomplish this by developing programs and building a syndicate working together to support our youth. We are strong, but like other organizations, we have pain points. As a group we believed that one of the most valuable tools of engagement and awareness is having an effective platform to communicate. Our team conducted a survey and census that showed that the current website lacks engagement and struggles to communicate WPY’s value to the youth and community. Taking a look at their current website, we see the design and fonts are outdated. Starting with the home page, and even then the get involved page which provides no additional information to donors other than a donate button and an address.
## What it does
```We aimed to make a much more user-friendly and visually appealing website that's capable to paint the picture of who we are, what we strive to achieve, and our impact to the community.

How we built it

```We first did a user research collecting feedbacks on what the viewers like and dislike about the website, focusing on the organization of the menu bar, information density on each page, and what would they care about if they are potential donors looking for ways to contribute. Then, using Google Sites, we completely revamped the website with a fresh look, better segmented pages, more visually appealing color schemes, improved logo presentation, and most importantly, collection of crucial information that the donors care about all in one place.
## Challenges we ran into
```Limitation of time and resources; re-organizing the entire webiste and all the information; extracting the information that donors and partners potentially care about and presenting it in an appealing way; comparing 5-6 designs of the logo background and reach an agreement within the group about which one to use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

```We’re proud of designing a website that WPY can implement and use to advance their current operations. The organization provides a multitude of resources to the community, and that often gets lost in translation. We’re happy to have created a design that more effectively communicates WPY’s values to the community. We’re also really proud of how well we were able to work and generate ideas as a team.
## What we learned
```We learned that external communication is essential to advancing the mission of the nonprofit. We conducted a research survey/interview and asked participants to imagine themselves as someone who cares about youth development and looks for potential ways to contribute to the community. Our results indicated donors care the most about the core value of the organization, as well as where their donation goes and what impact they can make.

What's next for WPY website external rebranding

```We hope that the next step for WPY is to build on the foundation we provided by implementing more tools to make the website more interactive. An improved website is essential to effectively communicating our values to prospective donors and increasing overall impact.
