Inspiration
While driving around Howard County with my parents, I've seen rivers such as the Patapsco River or the river in Old Ellicott City that were very polluted. People kept on dropping stuff in the rivers and I wanted to help, but I didn't know how to. As soon as I heard the prompt, I immediately remembered this experience, and I got to work.
What it does
This website informs people about water pollution in general and about the wastewater treatment plants in Howard County. It contains graphs, statistics, images of pollution and informational facts - and tries to persuade the reader that they can help fix the solution.
How I built it
I used HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Challenges I ran into
The styling kept on getting messed up, and my scripts did not work properly. I had to figure out how to create a slideshow that would cycle through a series of images/text inputs.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I made a slideshow in JavaScript on my own, and in my opinion made a very clean and professional UI.
What I learned
I learned a lot about the water pollution in Howard County.
