Inspiration
VR and open-world experiences, that's basically it! Both concepts show how much more technology can bring, and I’ve loved both since I was a kid. Now, having our entire world in high fidelity digital-form is one of the greatest things to happen to VR.
What it does
- Offers the complete virtual travel experience. Using AI-upscaled Google Earth 3D maps to offer the best possible 3D world close-up quality, and Street View + Community Imagery with a rendering resolution of up to 2.0x, leveraging Meta's APIs to use the VR display's full capabilities.
How I built it
- Years of weekly updates, striving to bring a dream come true. Thanks to our amazing VR community's support and feedback, WorldLens is now the most reputable, intuitive, seamless and capable in its category.
Challenges I ran into
- Optimization is what made WL so magical, offering PCVR-like performance on standalone!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Let's keep this open-ended, there's so much still to innovate!
What I've learned
- Everything there was to learn basically, WL pushes so many boundaries and that forced me to learn how to redefine what's possible on standalone.
