Inspiration

Inspired by Gemini, ChatGPT, Botl.new, and Airbnb, I thought, why not create a tour guide for travelers, just like Bolt is for developers? Thanks to the Gemini API, which handled most of the heavy lifting, I was able to focus on enhancing the user experience. I integrated Google Maps to provide a seamless and smooth experience for travelers.

What it does

World Trip Planner acts as a personalized AI travel assistant, offering real-time trip planning, detailed itineraries, and location-based recommendations. It eliminates the need for expensive tour guides and simplifies the travel experience by providing instant access to essential information.

How we built it

The project was built using the Gemini API for AI-powered assistance and Google Maps for navigation and location services. The backend was developed to handle dynamic JSON data for personalized recommendations, while the frontend ensures a smooth and intuitive user experience.

Challenges we ran into

  • Structuring the JSON data to meet the application's requirements was a significant hurdle.
  • Integrating Google Maps for dynamic rendering and ensuring a seamless experience for users.
  • Using an AI API for the first time presented some learning curves, particularly around understanding API capabilities and limitations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully integrating AI and mapping technologies to create a user-friendly platform.
  • Building a SaaS application from scratch, which was both challenging and rewarding.
  • Enhancing the travel planning process, making it simpler, faster, and more affordable for users.

What we learned

  • How to build a SaaS platform from scratch, including integrating APIs and managing data.
  • The potential of AI APIs in delivering user-focused solutions and enhancing product capabilities.
  • Overcoming technical challenges with JSON structuring and dynamic map integrations.

What's next for World Trip Planner

  • Adding more integrations, such as local transport APIs and hotel booking services.
  • Enhancing the AI to offer even more personalized recommendations based on user preferences.
  • Expanding language support to cater to a global audience.
  • Introducing offline functionality for travelers in areas with limited internet connectivity.
  • Social network for travelers to upload their journeys, allowing users to share experiences, tips, and inspiration with the community.
