Inspiration

Our team's inspiration was to craft boundless experiences for culture enthusiasts with a traveller spirit. From savoring authentic cuisine to immersing in local humor, our goal was to provide a comprehensive journey that makes you feel like you are in a foreign country. For this purpose, GenAI is the perfect match tool, as it offers infinite options and can seamlessly explain intricate local concepts in natural language, just like a native guide would, all in English.

What it does

It dynamically generates both textual and visual content to construct a comprehensive guide, simulating the experience of being a tourist guided by a knowledgeable local. Through this interactive approach, users delve deep into the culture they're exploring, gaining insights and connections as if accompanied by an expert companion.

How we built it

We harnessed the power of the AWS PartyRock web interface to experiment with various prompts, refining our approach until achieving our desired application.

Challenges we ran into

Navigating prompt tuning proved to be a novel challenge for our team. Initially, obtaining the precise response from the LLM posed difficulties. However, we discovered that shorter, simpler prompts yielded more accurate and reliable outcomes, leading to our ultimate success.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that the entire app is readable and easy to follow. This enhances its fun and immersive nature, as users won't encounter any barriers to their imagination. We invited some colleagues to play with it, and they found the experience very smooth and interactive. One of our favourite comments was, "I really got hungry visiting the restaurant".

What we learned

We learned that this kind of app breaks traditional limits, providing users with the opportunity to make endless decisions. We also learned how to iteratively test our prompts.

What's next for World Traveller

The next step for World Traveller is transitioning to a fully-fledged app. While AWS PartyRock facilitated proof of concept development, we believe that building our own web app will unleash its true potential. This enables us to meticulously control how widgets interact, providing a seamless user experience. Additionally, we envision incorporating music generation. Picture inputting some invented lyric and receiving music from a specific culture with that condition!

NOTE: Generative AI played a crucial role in enhancing and refining this submission. Given that we are not native English speakers, it proved to be an invaluable tool in ensuring accuracy and clarity.
