World Travel Guide

With travel increasing, it is crucial that our community stays informed the places they travel to. This guide displays conditions of various countries, so we can be more aware about the places we go.

Inspiration

What inspired me to create this tool was the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Millions accross the world are traveling to Qatar to see this match. This made me realize that travel safety was a priority giving me inspiration to create this project

What it does

This project informs the user about recent events going on in a certain area.

How we built it

I built this project by using the pytrends library to scrape data from Google Search Trends. Then, I used the data collected to create a dashboard in Tableau to visualize the results.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge I ran into was the timeout error. The Google Search Trends website limited the amount of time I can scrape data. As a result, I had to use proxies, retry the program, and specify a timeout delay to work around this issue

Accomplishments that we're proud of

An accomplisment I am proud of this that I managed to effectively visualize the data through graphs and maps. This comprehensive view that is accesible to almost anyone makes me proud because now my community can travel without doubt.

I can add more catagories, more countries, and pull the data realtime.
