Inspiration

With the 2026 World Cup approaching, we wanted to create a unified, interactive platform where passionate football fans around the globe could connect, engage, and share their excitement. We noticed a lack of modern, all-in-one tools that seamlessly combined user match predictions with live tournament tracking and interactive fan rankings.

What it does

World Cup Pred (https://worldcuppred.com/) is your ultimate digital companion for the 2026 tournament. On our platform, users can:

  • Make detailed 2026 World Cup match predictions.
  • Track live group standings and real-time tournament updates.
  • Explore and interact with the dynamic knockout bracket.
  • Dive deep into comprehensive team profiles.
  • Join the global fan support rankings to see which country has the most passionate and active fanbase.

How we built it

We built the platform using a modern web stack designed for speed and scalability. The frontend is powered by Next.js and React, styled with Tailwind CSS to ensure a responsive, mobile-first design. For the backend, we utilized Node.js and a database like MongoDB to handle user interactions, store match predictions, and calculate the global fan support rankings. We also integrated external data APIs to ensure live standings and match data remain accurate and up-to-date.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was syncing real-time data for live standings and updating the knockout bracket without causing performance bottlenecks. Designing a complex, interactive tournament bracket that remains readable and highly functional on smaller mobile screens also required several iterations of UI/UX testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of the smooth interactive prediction system and the global fan support ranking feature, which creates a genuinely engaging experience for users. We also managed to maintain a clean, intuitive interface despite the massive amount of tournament data being displayed.

What we learned

Building this project significantly improved our skills in managing real-time data synchronization, optimizing full-stack applications for performance, and designing complex responsive components for sports data visualization.

What's next for World Cup Pred

We plan to introduce social sharing features so users can easily challenge their friends, create private prediction mini-leagues, and add multi-language support to make the platform truly accessible to a global audience ahead of the big kickoff.
