World Cup Bets

Inspiration

When coming up for an idea of building our project we thought about building an app. We were realized that the sponsors that supported in making CalHacks happen have really great software and it allowed us to think of coming up with multiple ideas but what what the general idea was to create an app that involves your friends for the upcoming World Cup but the next question was what is the app going to be about and that is where we came up with the idea of making an app where we can bet against our friends to bond with your friends when watching the World Cup or give more emotion when watching every game.

What it does

Allows us to bet with our friends on who will win the World Cup

How we built it

We used React Native, Node JS, Express JS, CockroachDB

Challenges we ran into

We came in with zero experience in App development so it was very difficult to start the project. We were also down two people because they couldn't make it and it was our first time competing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to create a mobile app from the ground up

What we learned

We learned how to create an ios app using React Native, as well as how to create a database with cockroach DB.

What's next for World Cup Bets

We are planning to finish editing the front end to make it more appealing and hopefully find a way to actually be able to bet with real money to make people accountable.
