Inspiration

Finding reliable daily wage workers is still a challenge for many households and small businesses. People often depend on personal contacts or local referrals, while skilled workers struggle to find consistent employment opportunities. We wanted to create a platform that makes hiring trusted professionals simple, fast, and accessible while helping workers connect with more customers.

What it does

WorkXpress is a web-based platform that connects customers with skilled daily wage workers such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, cooks, and domestic helpers. The platform allows users to: Create an account and log in securely. Browse different service categories. Search for services using voice search. Book skilled professionals. Make secure online payments. Track booking history. Access multilingual support for improved accessibility. Manage profiles through dedicated customer and worker dashboards.

How we built it

We built WorkXpress using modern web technologies to deliver a fast and responsive user experience. Tech Stack React TypeScript Vite Tailwind CSS Supabase React Router React Query i18next (Multilingual Support) shadcn/ui Supabase was used for authentication and backend services, while React and Tailwind CSS were used to build a responsive and user-friendly interface.

Challenges we ran into

During development, we faced several challenges, including: Designing an intuitive user interface for both customers and workers. Organizing multiple service categories while keeping navigation simple. Implementing multilingual support to improve accessibility. Integrating authentication and backend services using Supabase. Creating a responsive design that works across different screen sizes. These challenges helped us improve both our technical and problem-solving skills.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a complete web platform for daily wage services. Successfully implemented authentication and booking workflows. Added voice search for easier service discovery. Included multilingual support to reach a broader audience. Designed separate dashboards for customers and workers. Developed a clean, responsive, and scalable application.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained practical experience in: React and TypeScript development. Building responsive user interfaces. Backend integration with Supabase. User authentication and database management. Routing and state management. Designing applications focused on solving real-world problems.

What's next for WorkXpress – Smart Daily Wage Job Platform

We plan to enhance WorkXpress by adding: AI-powered worker recommendations. Real-time worker availability and live tracking. Ratings and verified reviews. In-app chat between customers and workers. Emergency service booking. AI-based job matching for workers. UPI and additional payment gateway integrations. Mobile applications for Android and iOS.
