Inspiration

As a pedagogue, I experienced how valuable observations often become fragmented across notes, documents, and reports. Documentation takes time, while professional reflection is difficult to structure consistently.

Reflection Room was inspired by the idea that AI should not replace professionals—it should help them reflect, identify patterns, and create better documentation while keeping human judgement at the center.

What it does

Reflection Room is an AI-assisted reflection platform for educators and care professionals.

The prototype allows users to:

Document daily observations. Rewrite notes into professional language. Identify recurring behavioural patterns. Generate structured status reports. Explore visual pedagogical models that support professional reflection.

The long-term vision is to transform these models into an interactive "Pedagogical Calculator" that helps professionals organize observations into meaningful insights.

How we built it

The prototype was built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Node.js, with AI functionality powered through the OpenAI API. - The newest version i am working on, is in colabaration with codex.

The application is deployed online using Render and managed through GitHub.

The pedagogical workflow, documentation structure and visual models were designed from professional experience working in education and care.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was balancing technical development with educational practice.

Building a prototype within a very limited timeframe meant prioritizing core functionality over design polish.

Another challenge was ensuring that AI supports professional judgement rather than replacing it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a working online prototype. Integrated AI into a real pedagogical workflow. Created original visual pedagogical models. Demonstrated documentation, reflection and reporting in one platform. Developed a concept that combines professional expertise with AI assistance. What we learned

We learned that AI becomes significantly more valuable when it supports structured professional thinking instead of simply generating text.

The project also showed how important user experience is when introducing AI into professional practice.

What's next for Reflection Room

The next step is to transform the visual pedagogical models into interactive AI-supported tools.

Future development includes:

Interactive pedagogical models. Smarter pattern recognition. Secure collaboration for professionals. Long-term documentation and progress tracking. Integration with existing educational workflows while maintaining privacy and professional responsibility.
