An AI-powered Slack agent that helps workshop administrators manage workshops, registrations, attendance, and performance without leaving Slack.

Inspiration

Managing workshops often requires administrators to switch between multiple systems for communication, scheduling, registration management, attendance tracking, and reporting. This context switching slows down administrative tasks and makes day-to-day operations less efficient.

We wanted to simplify these workflows by bringing workshop management directly into Slack, where teams already communicate and collaborate. By combining Slack with Salesforce and AI, administrators can perform routine tasks through natural language instead of navigating multiple interfaces.

Our goal was to make workshop administration more efficient, intuitive, and accessible.

What it does

Workshop Admin Agent for Slack enables administrators to manage the entire workshop lifecycle from within Slack.

Key capabilities include:

  • Create, update, publish, and cancel workshops
  • Manage participant registrations
  • Monitor attendance and participation
  • Notify participants
  • View workshop performance dashboards
  • Generate reports using natural language

Administrators can simply ask questions or issue commands such as:

"Show workshops scheduled for this month."

"Create a new AI Fundamentals workshop for next Friday."

"How many participants attended last week's workshop?"

The agent interprets the request, retrieves or updates Salesforce data, and returns the appropriate response directly in Slack.

How we built it

The solution combines Slack's conversational interface with Salesforce as the system of record for workshop management.

Challenges we ran into

One of the primary challenges was designing a conversational experience that supports complex administrative workflows while remaining intuitive for users.

Other challenges included:

  • Translating natural language requests into Salesforce operations.
  • Ensuring responses respected user permissions and data visibility.
  • Presenting structured administrative information clearly within Slack.
  • Supporting multiple workshop management scenarios through a consistent conversational interface.
