Inspiration
Warehouses are adding more robots, but robots, workers, forklifts, and machines still operate with separate and incomplete views of the floor. We wanted to create one shared source of spatial awareness.
What it does
WorkSense uses ZaiNar’s live location data to build a shared map of the workplace. It helps robots detect possible path conflicts, choose safer actions, and receive real-time guidance such as wait, slow down, or reroute.
Workers and supervisors can also view robot routes, alerts, and blocked areas.
How we built it
We designed the product architecture, user flow, supervisor dashboard, worker view, and robot API mockups.
The concept connects:
- ZaiNar’s live location layer
- A shared spatial map
- A decision engine
- Robot, worker, and supervisor interfaces
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was defining what WorkSense should control.
We decided it should support high-level robot decisions without replacing onboard cameras, local safety systems, or motor control.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a clear product concept with:
- A specific customer
- A practical first deployment
- Measurable business value
- A strong reason for using ZaiNar
What we learned
We learned that robots need more than local perception. Shared location awareness can help them understand activity beyond their own field of view and work more safely around people and machines.
What's next for WorkSense
The next step is a pilot in one warehouse zone with mobile robots, workers, and a forklift.
We would measure:
- Near-misses
- Robot wait time
- Route conflicts
- Congestion
- Task completion time
