Cameras are everywhere; injuries still come from people–machine proximity and unguarded motion. Turn video into a real-time safety co-pilot + near-miss metrics leaders can act on.

What it does

Instant alerts: forklift–pedestrian, crane swing-zone, reach into moving machine, exclusion-zone entry.

Red beacon overlay on the live feed.

Near-miss dashboards by site/zone/shift.

PPE tracked (helmet, glasses, vest, gloves, hearing, mask).

How we built it

Bedrock (Claude Sonnet Vision) via Converse for reasoning on cropped frames.

SORT/ByteTrack for ID tracking; zone polygons + distance rules.

Edge capture → Lambda scorer → DynamoDB → API → React UI.

Challenges we ran into

Bedrock access/region alignment, low-res false positives, track stability, latency control.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Reliable proximity/zone alerts with clear “why.”

Red-light UI operators notice.

Trustable near-miss metrics with clip evidence.

What we learned

Specific prompts + focused crops = better LLM accuracy.

Simple geometry + LLM judgement beats either alone.

Per-zone SOP rules, multi-camera tracking, edge mode, feedback loop for tuning, weekly auto-reports, Slack/Teams alerts & CMMS tickets.
