Inspiration

"I wanted to start working out and I needed a simple plan. I couldn't find an app or website that could give me a plan based on which muscles I wanted to work on" - Gal, creator

What it does

Worko asks you some simple questions - which muscle you want to train, whether you have weights, and whether you need a short or long term plan - and quickly returns an exercise plan to you. It also gives you your BMI, saves previous exercise plans, and can quickly access exercise pages from Siri!

How we built it

We split into two teams - one working on the more mathematical side of how exercises are assigned, and one working on the layout and feel of the app.

Challenges we ran into

Constraints on XCode are disgusting. And we forgot to resignFirstResponder and give names to UITableViewCells, Segues, etc. We also couldn't finish linking some of our C++ code to our Swift code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We think our video is pretty good.

What we learned

Mobile apps take waaaaaay longer than web apps because of wireframing and developing the layout .

What's next for Worko

Even more personalization in terms of repetition, training for strength vs. training for endurance, and finishing the algorithm we tried to implemented to assign exercises that hit every muscles group users wanted to train. We also want to integrate directly into Siri so that users can workout without even opening the app. Eventually, stat tracking of completed workouts and progress would ideally be introduced as well.
