Inspiration
There is a lot of people in today's day and age that do not stick to their fitness goals. They want to lose weight, or they want to gain muscle, but they are hesitant to start or get scared from the commitment they have to show towards their goals. This is a growing issue in today's world and me and my team also have loved ones that suffer from this same challenge.
What it does
Our application motivates people to stick to their workout routines. It does so by prompting the user to enter an amount of money of their choice into our app. This money is returned in full to the user when the user completes their workout goals. These goals are set by the user and the user also sets the timeframe over which they want to achieve their goals. The money allocated by the user is converted to points in our application's backend. Every user starts at 0 points. Every-time the user completes a workout session, they get a proportional fraction of those total points back. These points can be used by the user to redeem their money.
How we built it
We started building our application by first brainstorming about it. We considered various different ideas offered by all team members and got a rough idea of what our project would look like. Then, me and my team wrote notes about the various features of our application. We also started designing our application immediately after using Figma. Lastly, all team members got together and turned our vision into a reality!
Challenges we ran into
Our team was not experienced with flutter at first so that is one of the major challenges our team ran into.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team is very proud of completing an initial working prototype of our solution. Our team is also proud of the grit and determination they showed throughout the hackathon to turn their vision into a reality!
What we learned
Me and my team learned a lot of technical skills like Flutter, Dart, and Figma. We also learned countless skills about teamwork and collaboration, and are excited to use those skills in our upcoming hackathons!
What's next for WorkItOut
We plan to partner with gyms in the future so that certain gym incentives could be provided to users to accomplish their goals. These gym incentives would include things like access to a certain number of group cycling sessions, recovery chair sessions, Zumba sessions, and more.
