Inspiration

Students often struggle in interviews not because they lack skills, but because they don’t understand how hiring actually works. This gap between talent and opportunity inspired us to build a solution that helps users think like recruiters and prepare more effectively.

What it does

HireLens is an AI-powered career assistant that analyzes job descriptions, tailors resumes, and focuses on interview preparation by simulating realistic interview scenarios and providing actionable feedback.

How we built it

We built HireLens using a full-stack architecture, combining a modern frontend with a backend powered by AI models. The system processes job descriptions and generates relevant interview questions. Conceptually, we match user skills to job requirements using a relevance function: This helps personalize interview questions and feedback based on the role.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was making the interview simulation feel realistic rather than scripted. We also struggled with ensuring AI-generated feedback was meaningful and not generic. Time constraints during development forced us to prioritize core features, especially interview preparation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a working prototype that adapts interview questions based on job roles and provides personalized feedback. Our platform stands out by combining job analysis, resume tailoring, and interview simulation into one system.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate AI into real-world applications and design user-centered solutions under time pressure. We also gained insights into how hiring systems work and improved our ability to rapidly prototype and iterate as a team.
