Inspiration

I often found myself creating long daily to-do lists (10–15+ tasks) with scattered priorities. As the day progressed, I would lose track of what was completed, what was pending, and what actually mattered. Despite staying busy, I lacked clarity on productivity and progress

What it does

WorkFocus AI is a smart productivity dashboard that helps users plan daily tasks, track effort, and measure progress against goals. It calculates productivity using weight, priority, and hours spent, and provides insights to highlight overworked and under-focused areas across learning, work, volunteering, and personal life.

How we built it

Built a single-page web application using a low-code AI app builder (MeDo). The system was designed as a structured dashboard with task input, daily tracking, weekly completion history, goal progress visualization, and a rule-based AI insights engine to analyze productivity distribution.

Challenges we ran into

Struggled with defining clear logic for productivity scoring, goal progress calculation, and task lifecycle flow (active → incomplete → completed). Another challenge was ensuring the AI insights remained meaningful while keeping the system lightweight and simple for fast generation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully built a working MVP that transforms scattered daily planning into a structured productivity system. The app provides real-time task tracking, automatic backlog management, and meaningful insights into how time and effort are distributed across life goals.

What we learned

Learned how important clear data structure and simple rule-based logic are when building AI-powered productivity tools. Also learnet how to balance feature depth with simplicity to ensure a working MVP within hackathon constraints.

What's next for WorkFocus AI — AI Daily Work Planner & Productivity Analyzer

Plan to improve persistence, add smarter AI-driven recommendations, introduce streaks and burnout detection, and enhance visual analytics for deeper productivity insights. The goal is to evolve it into a personal AI productivity companion.
