Inspiration

Things like ePack can be difficult to use. When searching for jobs, students want an application that is easy to use and lets them quickly view information at a glance. We also wanted to create an easy way to talk to recruiters for companies. We wanted to create a more informal way to get more information. It can prevent wasting time for both parties- applicants can quickly find out if its a position they're interested in, and recruiters can go through potential hires more quickly, and spend more time on those most interested in the job.

Goals

We want our app to have a user friendly interface and create easy employment opportunities. Students are our target audience, but we aren't limited to them as a market. We want to give companies a unique way to recruit employees, and reduce bias in the recruitment process.

At Diamondhacks

At Diamondhacks, we quickly realized the scope of our project exceeded our abilities and time limit. So, we decided to focus on refining our application goals, creating a mockup, and working on some of the backend. Some challenges we faced was deciding why our app was superior to other, similar apps- why would any company invest into Worker Bees? We had to research and consider our opposition, and it even made us reconsider the app in the first place. However, our recruiter + company features were something we found unique, so we spent more time on them.

What's next for Worker Bees

Premium Users - Users can pay for more time with recruiters. Better location based job matching -> Don’t just search for jobs in a radius around you. Choose any location and look for jobs around there. Improve front end, find the layout that best lets people view job information.
