Work4Earth was born from witnessing the intersection of two critical global challenges: climate change vulnerability and unemployment in affected communities. We saw an opportunity to transform environmental challenges into economic opportunities by connecting people in climate-vulnerable regions with meaningful, earth-positive micro-jobs.
What we learned: Building accessible platforms for users with varying technical literacy Implementing multi-language support (English, Albanian, French) to reach diverse communities Designing role-based systems that serve both job seekers and NGO organizations Creating real-time job matching algorithms that consider location and skills
How we built it: We developed a full-stack web application with a modern React frontend and robust Lovable Cloud backend. The platform features an interactive map showing job locations, real-time job matching, user authentication with role management, and a comprehensive dashboard for tracking environmental impact.
Challenges faced: Balancing simplicity for users with limited tech access while maintaining powerful features Implementing secure role-based access control (volunteer, NGO, admin) Creating an intuitive job application flow that works across different devices Building a scalable backend that can grow with the platform.
Built with Frontend:
React 18 TypeScript Tailwind CSS Vite
UI Components:
Radix UI Component Library Lucide React Icons Recharts (data visualization) Leaflet (interactive maps)
Backend & Cloud: Supabase
